Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

In his opinion, the sharp escalation of the military situation near Avdeevka represents an attempt to test the results of a telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and the United States in order to “find out who is leaking whom.”

“Behind the scenes of the escalation of hostilities, there are people analyzing the reaction of the parties. This bloody test is a cynical red litmus test. In order not to violate Ukrainian legislation, I will call its authorship a conditional “party of war” and a “party of hawks” - people who earn and live from war, having long used war as an element of social management,” Bortnyk emphasized.
