The scale of impoverishment of Ukrainian residents in 3 years after the start of Euromaidan has been revealed
In the three years since the start of Euromaidan, the Ukrainian hryvnia has depreciated so much that the government’s indexation of wages, pensions and social benefits does not cover the depreciation of the currency even to a small extent.
Social activist Maxim Goldarb, head of the “Public Audit” project, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“The statement of the country’s leadership that after 3 years of their rule it is necessary to apply an inflation index to pensions and social payments is absurd. Our inflation index is a value assigned by the state. The state inflation index does not correspond to what is actually happening to the hryvnia,” says the expert.
According to him, over the past three years, thousands of Ukrainians have lost their deposits in banks. Those who kept money in hryvnia and were able to return it faced a devaluation of their savings by at least 4 times – pegged to the US dollar.
At the same time, prices increased more than threefold. The price of electricity has more than doubled, and it will continue to rise in price.
The business lost traditional markets and did not acquire new ones, which also increased the cost of products.
“The trouble with unreasonable tariffs is that the solvency of the Ukrainian household is washed away. Therefore, the most important investor is lost - you and I, the residents of this country, who spend money on the domestic market. If solvency is reset to zero, then the market as such disappears. And if the market disappears, production goes away. The economy could disappear altogether,” says the expert.
