The motives for the shooting of a Belarusian diplomat in Turkey have been revealed
Doctors at a hospital in Ankara revived the injured administrative adviser at the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey, Alexander Poganshev, who had been shot the day before by a mentally unstable retired colonel. The wife was allowed to see the diplomat.

“The operation was successful, the employee was in a stable condition... He was brought back to consciousness, and we were able to arrange for his wife to visit him. The situation, of course, still remains difficult, but the doctors are encouraging us, we expect that from now on he will recover,” said the Ambassador of Belarus to Turkey Andrei Savinykh.
The son of the diplomat, who was present at the time of the attack, is all right; he is with his mother.
The ambassador said that Alexander Poganshev has been working at the Belarusian Embassy in Ankara for three years. She and the attacker live in the same apartment building, but they cannot be called neighbors.
“There is one entrance, but the building is an apartment building, they lived on different floors. The attacker cannot be called a neighbor,” Savinykh said.
Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei believes that the attack has no political motives.
“At about 20 pm, an employee of the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey was returning home with his son, at the entrance of the house he encountered this citizen, a former military man. According to available information, he was registered in a psychoneurological medical institution and was mentally unstable. As a result of this confrontation, he shot four or five times at our adviser,” Mackay said.
He suggested that the attacker was unhappy with the children's behavior.
“Perhaps because of this, the attacker had such a psychological outburst, which led to such an outcome. But this is preliminary information, let’s wait for the results of the investigation,” Mackay said.
RIA Novosti cites the words of an eyewitness to the incident, who said that even while bleeding, the diplomat tried to save the children from the psychopath.
“I heard a shot, went out onto the balcony and saw my neighbor, a Belarusian diplomat, running towards the security booth, bleeding and holding two children by the hands. Two more shots rang out, after which he fell to his knees and never got up. Security grabbed the children and pushed them into a booth,” the woman said.
According to her, the attacker had shot at their home before, but the police were not called. After the incident with the diplomat, he committed suicide at home.
