Russia is already facing interference in the Duma elections, which will be held on September 17-19.
The first deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Vladimir Dzhabarov, told Izvestia about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the interference comes mainly from NATO members.
“If we talk specifically about countries, this is Poland, the Netherlands. Oddly enough, Sweden - the head of the Swedish Foreign Ministry has already stated that the Russian elections will be dishonest. And, of course, Ukraine, which will “scream” about it. They a priori designate these elections as dishonest,” Dzhabarov believes.
He stressed that Russia will suppress all attempts at foreign interference, recalling the norms that limit the activities of foreign agents in Russia.
In turn, the chairman of the temporary commission of the Federation Council for the protection of state sovereignty, Andrei Klimov, says that Western opponents adapt their strategies to changing conditions and the transformation of Russian legislation.
“The Americans publish the positions of Russian unconstructive political forces. They are trying to intercept the agenda in order to do something inside our country. They will pretend that our elections are illegitimate and illegal. They don’t hide it; texts about the results of our elections have already been practically prepared,” said the head of the commission.
He believes that foreign opponents will actively use digital platforms and the Russian-language segment of the Internet. Klimov also claims that there are already ready-made drafts about violations in the elections that have not yet taken place.
