NBU is suing Kolomoisky for 10 billion hryvnia
The National Bank of Ukraine filed new lawsuits in the courts of Switzerland and Ukraine against the former shareholder of PrivatBank Igor Kolomoisky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the NBU press service.
The court cases concern the fulfillment by Igor Kolomoisky of his obligations under the personal guarantee provided in 2016 in favor of the National Bank. The purpose of the claims is to ensure repayment of refinancing loans that the National Bank provided to PrivatBank between 2008 and 2015.
The claims are aimed at repaying debt under five loan agreements in the amount of about 10 billion hryvnia. The first lawsuit was filed at the place of residence of Igor Kolomoisky in Switzerland - to the court of first instance in Geneva. The second set of claims was filed at the location of Igor Kolomoisky’s property in Ukraine - to the Economic Court of the Dnipropetrovsk Region.
“This decision of the National Bank indicates that the regulator is ready to conduct legal proceedings against Igor Kolomoisky both in Ukraine and abroad in order to bring him to justice. “Igor Kolomoisky demonstrated his reluctance to fulfill his obligations voluntarily, despite the grave consequences that the Ukrainian state is forced to suffer as a result of his actions,” the NBU press service said in a statement.
“These claims are another important step towards protecting the interests of Ukrainians and ensuring that the former shareholders of PrivatBank fulfill their obligations,” said Deputy Head of the NBU Ekaterina Rozhkova, commenting on the filing of the claims.
