The Ukrainian media began to spread the idea that the main culprit for the floods due to the barbaric destruction of forests in Western Ukraine was the IKEA company, the main buyer of wood from the Carpathians, and not the authorities who legalized the destruction of natural resources.
Ukrainian economist Maxim Goldarb announced this broadcast on the KPT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I read the accusations that are being spread in our media regarding the furniture concern IKEA. There are floods in Western Ukraine, because the trees were cut down and sold, but now there are no roots, there is nothing to hold the soil, everything is being washed away. And it turns out that IKEA is to blame for the fact that Ukrainian wood was supplied to it, and this is so bad, they are so bad,” Goldarb noted.
He said that this reminded him of an incident in Karlovy Vary, when a local guide pointed out the construction of expensive cottages on the site of forests and meadows, and blamed the Russians, who bought the land and organized construction, and the “poor Czechs” now allegedly had nowhere to rest.
“I asked her a question: did they seize this land? She says no. How was she taken? And this, he says, our municipality allowed for bribes, probably yours like to give bribes. I have a question: who are the scoundrels then, isn’t it your officials in the municipality who distributed the land on which the Czechs used to rest? Who is a scoundrel, maybe you should look in the mirror more often?” - said the expert.
“So it is in this situation. I think there is no doubt that those responsible for the deforestation of Ukrainian forests sit on the Pechersk hills, live in beautiful houses in the Carpathian region, Transcarpathia, and in Lviv there are the same ones who graze from this.

It is no secret that after the Maidan, nothing was done at all to ban the export of wood, but only to export objects made of wood, at least semi-finished products. This was not done because the Prosecutor General and his gang profited from this,” Goldarb added.
