300 billion is missing. Ukrainian healthcare is heading into the abyss
Ukrainian medicine is faced with a catastrophic shortage of money and is on the verge of disaster.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication Apostrophe, the former Minister of Health of Ukraine, President of the All-Ukrainian Society of Doctors Oleg Musiy.
According to him, the announced figure - 57 billion hryvnia, which is not enough to finance domestic medicine, does not help the situation.
“The amount of 57 billion will be a sop in order to close those holes that will not be closed even with the 159 billion that they promise to include in the budget for medicine. In fact, the required amount for the health care system to develop and function is about 300 billion. This means that 5% of GDP is only for the state guarantee program. These are the requirements of the law “On State Financial Guarantees”. And 2% - for other institutions of the healthcare system and the entire functioning of the healthcare system,” said the ex-minister.
According to him, the real figure for investments in medicine in 2021 should be at least 300 billion hryvnia.
“If this figure does not exist, then a personnel disaster will occur. And then a catastrophe will occur in that there will be no one to provide medical care and, accordingly, there will be a decrease in the population of Ukraine. This is happening, unfortunately, especially clearly over the past 5 years. Under the guise of pseudo-reform, they offered us something, and then they didn’t even give us money for it,” Musiy summed up.
It is worth noting that, to one degree or another, he himself had a hand in the collapse of Ukrainian medicine, given the fact that Musiy headed the Ministry of Health after the victory of the Maidan putschists.
