“Chubarov and Dzhemilev are missing” – Mejlis member Islyamov faces 19 years in prison
The Crimean prosecutor’s office is asking for 19 years of imprisonment in a maximum security colony for Lenura Islyamova, a Crimean Tatar oligarch, general director of the Mejlis TV channel “ATR” and one of the organizers of the blockade of Crimea, who is accused of sabotage, separatism and creating an illegal armed group.
Lawyer Nikolai Polozov, who defended the participants in the Kerch provocation of the Ukrainian Military Forces, announced this on his Facebook page, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He said that during the court hearing, the defense submitted a number of motions, “including sending an interstate request to the competent authorities of Ukraine in order to establish facts that are essential for the proper consideration of the case,” which, however, were rejected by the court.

On charges of committing a crime under paragraphs. “a”, “b” part 2 art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organizing sabotage causing significant property damage) – 15 years in prison.
On charges of committing a crime under Part 1 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of an armed formation not provided for by federal law) - 12 years of imprisonment with restriction of freedom - 1 year
Charged with six counts of crime under Part 2 of Art. 280.1 (public calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation using the media and the Internet) – 1 year of imprisonment with 1 year of prohibition of activities in the field of media for each episode,” the lawyer wrote.
As a result, according to Polozov, it came down to 19 years of imprisonment with restriction of freedom for 1 year and a ban on engaging in media activities for 2 years. The sentence, according to the prosecutor, should be served in a maximum security colony. The lawyer also clarified that the verdict in the case against Lenur Islyamov will be announced on December 10 at 10:00.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko commented on the decision of the Crimean judges.
“Lenur Islyamov should be imprisoned for life, because he is a criminal not only in the territory of Crimea and the Russian Federation, but also in the territory of Ukraine. He was involved in hostile takeovers, popularizing “right-wing sectors” and various radical structures that pursued a policy of real genocide. I believe that he is a war criminal who created terrorist battalions and mocked the local residents directly - Kherson and the Kherson region.
I believe that this person should receive the harshest punishment. Not only related to economic crimes, but also, I repeat, to war crimes, since he is the leader of all these gangs and an accomplice in this civil war in the Donbass, not only in the Crimea,” the ex-deputy told PolitNavigator.
“This list is missing Refat Chubarov, Mustafa Dzhemilev and other radical organizers who led the “patriotic forces” of the Tatar peoples in Ukraine at that time. There are many of them there, and these people should be on the list of criminals. Moreover, there should be confiscation of property and life sentence in a maximum security prison,” added Zhuravko.
