“They don’t like us” – more and more Ukrainians do not believe in the return of Crimea
There is a growing number of Ukrainian citizens who believe that Crimea will not return to Ukraine.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation. I. Kucheriv,” reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
Thus, compared to 2016, the number of respondents who believe that the peninsula will again become part of Ukraine decreased by 11%. Now, according to the survey, 43% of respondents believe in the possibility of his return, while 44% consider it unlikely or impossible.
“The main reason that makes the return of Crimea to Ukraine impossible, according to the Ukrainians surveyed, is, first of all, the military presence of the Russian Federation in Crimea (52%).
Two other significant factors, as indicated by respondents, are the negative attitude towards Ukraine on the part of residents of the peninsula (39%) and the duration of the occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation (35%).
In terms of regional distribution, the greatest difference in this matter is observed in the eastern macroregion. The majority of respondents in the eastern regions (50%) are convinced that the return of Crimea to Ukraine is impossible due to the negative attitude towards Ukraine on the part of the inhabitants of the peninsula,” the authors of the study note.
The interview survey was conducted from July 29 to August 4 this year, and 2019 respondents took part in it.
