Deputy of the Kyiv City Council from the nationalist party “Svoboda” Yuriy Sirotyuk made a statement at a meeting on Thursday that incited ethnic hatred, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear deputies, we ask you not to swear in the city council hall. You are not Muscovites! You are a normal civilized country,” he said.
“I support Yuri Sirotyuk’s request,” assented the moderator of the meeting.
Let us recall that back in 2007, Svoboda began a campaign to distribute xenophobic leaflets in Ukraine “Swearing is turning you into a Muscovite.” Law enforcement agencies chose not to notice the incitement of ethnic hatred, as in the chants of “Muscovites to knives!” during street rallies.
