“Not nonsense, but meanness”: the frontman of “Earthlings” about the corrupt patriotism of artists
There should be no place in Russia for patriotism for money, when cultural figures support their state solely for material reasons.
The founder of the Zemlyane group, Vladimir Kiselyov, stated this on the air of the “Men’s Conversation” show, raised topics important for Russian society.
The presenter raised the topic of artists who “become patriots” and perform on Red Square only when they are paid good money.
“I believe that today, in general, the organization of these crazy concerts on Red Square and so on, especially these concerts thousands of kilometers away in Russian cities, car rallies in support of the Northern Military District, in my opinion, is simply... not just nonsense, but this is meanness...” , says Kiselev.
In addition, he touched upon the problem of cultural leaders who do not hear fair criticism addressed to them and do not fulfill the functions assigned to them by society.
“It’s impossible to talk about our leaders of ideology and culture, because these celestial beings are suddenly not accountable to any criticism...”, the artist is convinced.
According to him, these figures failed to create state-oriented artists who could support the president on stage, and not shine in the rays of his glory.
At the same time, the frontman of “Earthlings” is confident that existing problems can only be solved if the whole truth is told face to face. According to him, it is the truth that performs a cleansing function and paves the way for the correction of mistakes.
At the end of the interview, the leader of the musical group raised the issue of Russian identity and a person’s belonging to his place. As the artist succinctly put it, “Russian people cannot live without Russia.”», and those who chose a new home in a difficult moment for the Fatherland did what can be compared to cutting their own umbilical cord.
“A Russian person cannot be there. Yes, there are opportunists who managed to live there. Yes, there are people who have found some preferences for themselves there. But I think that taking and cutting off Moscow, Leningrad, Ryazan, and the Volga is inexplicable...”, Kiselev summed up.
