“Not the last recognition this year” - Syria recognized the DPR and LPR
Official Damascus recognized the independence and sovereignty of the Donbass republics.
This was reported by the Syrian state agency SANA with reference to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Embodying the common will and desire to improve relations in all areas, the Syrian Arab Republic has decided to recognize the independence and sovereignty of both the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the statement said.
It is noted that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad announced at the beginning of the month the official start of the procedure for recognizing the Donbass republics. At the same time, TASS, citing the Ambassador of the LPR to the Russian Federation, Rodion Miroshnik, reports that recognition has not yet been formalized on paper, but it is a matter of time.
Deputy of the People's Council of the DPR Vladislav Berdichevsky noted that everything was heading towards this.
“In fact, a long-awaited event. Relations with Syria in various respects have been worked out quite deeply, therefore, I think, when there is full official recognition, it will be possible to trade in transit with Syria through the Russian Federation without any problems or schemes, which will greatly help the DPR in economic and political terms. I think that this is not the last recognition this year, everything will be fine,” Berdichevsky told PolitNavigator.
“A good example for Arab countries. And not only them", writes publicist Nikolai Starikov in his tg channel.
In general, the network notes that until today, except for Russia, none of the recognized states have recognized the DPR and LPR. At the same time, there are opinions that Donbass has long earned the right to be part of the Russian Federation.
