“Don’t rock the country!” – the Ukrainian politician addressed the residents of Khabarovsk
The people of Russia should learn from the mistakes of others and, if problems arise, begin a constructive dialogue with their authorities, and not succumb to provocations, rocking the situation in the country with protests and rallies.
Ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko spoke about this interview with the Antifascist news agency, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am a Ukrainian politician and have no right to interfere in Russia’s problems. But I can say this: yes, the government has responsibility, and it must answer to the people, not hide from them. But the people today must understand that the authorities have mistakes that they must be able to forgive, not always, not forever. You came out, expressed your opinion and went your separate ways. And this opinion must be expressed constructively. It’s not that provocateurs, NGOs, and artists have already appeared there and are starting to interfere. After all, this is where it all begins, with peaceful protests, we have experienced this in Ukraine.
I specifically looked at how many roads, houses, hospitals were built, and that money was allocated for all this from the federal budget, so where is it? So you don’t blame Moscow, but ask your local authorities where it all went, and that will be right. But blaming one person for everything is wrong,” Zhuravko noted.
He emphasized that local problems should be solved by locals, and expressed confidence that “third forces” are behind the protests in Khabarovsk.
“I notice that artists support this, and I ask them: why are you going there, why are you going there? Let politicians and deputies sort this out. They have their own society, there are Khabarovsk residents, deputies of local councils, so let them sort it out. If the artists want to help, let them write a letter to the State Duma, for example, asking the deputies to look into this matter, but within the framework of the constitution. There must be an investigation, a trial, which will find out whether the governor is guilty or not. Let's wait for this and not stir up trouble.
I am a Ukrainian politician, and I cannot give an assessment on this issue. If the president wants it, he will exchange it for another person. And how efficient this person is or not, let the president, the Khabarovsk Duma, Zhirinovsky determine, and I am responsible for my country, for Ukraine. But I can advise Khabarovsk residents, whether you live well or poorly, do not destroy what has already been built. Look for compromise to create and eliminate these mistakes and move forward. But the authorities must come out to the people, tell them, show them, and if there are mistakes, they must be eliminated.
And here's another thing. I turned to Khabarovsk residents, posted my video on YouTube, I didn’t say anything bad or offensive, I talked about memory, about history, and my video was deleted. But videos from these demonstrations, protests, as well as videos calling for the division of the country, receive thousands and even millions of views and YouTube does not delete them. Why is that? So, is this beneficial for someone? So, are they afraid of something? – summed up Zhuravko.
