“It’s not just about making money.” Putin called on CIS countries to learn Russian
Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that the Russian language is the most important factor connecting the CIS countries.
He stated this today, speaking at a meeting of the Council of CIS member countries, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Commonwealth countries really have a lot in common: a common history, spiritual roots, a deep interweaving of cultures, customs, and traditions. And of course, the Russian language, which is a unifying force, holds together a single civilizational space in the CIS,” Putin said.
He emphasized the role of the Russian language in the adaptation of labor migrants.
“It is important for both you and us that people adapt and easily enter into normal life in Russia. At a minimum you need to know Russian. You need to understand what Russia is, what the culture of Russia is, the relationships between the peoples of Russia and the former Soviet Union, in order to integrate and not only earn money, but also live a full life in our country,” the Russian President added.
He recalled that at the previous CIS summit in December 2020, it was decided to hold the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication in 2023.
“We consider the measures provided for in its program aimed at supporting, preserving and improving the status of the Russian language and popularizing Russian culture to be very useful. We are confident that all this will contribute to the spiritual and cultural mutual enrichment of the member countries of the Commonwealth,” Putin said.
