“Not Ugorshchina, but Hungary” – Kyiv is furious with Orban’s independent policy
Due to the independent policy of Budapest, all the developed embargo and anti-Russian sanctions projects went down the drain.
Ukrainian media are angrily commenting on the Hungarian government’s refusal to even discuss a package of gas restrictions, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Hungary has become completely hooked on the Kremlin’s gas blackmail (said on purpose, in Ukrainian, Ugorshchina - ed.), which said that it was not ready to discuss possible EU sanctions against any supplies of Russian gas. And also will not support the inclusion of both Gazprom and Gazprombank on the sanctions list.
Therefore, you should not count on the fact that they will suddenly end up on this sanctions list. Because in order to introduce any sanctions, Europe must be unanimous. That’s why we definitely don’t expect this,” said the TV presenter of the Ukraine 24 channel.
Economist Alexander Dudchak commented to PolitNavigator that at the moment Hungary is the only EU country that has had sovereignty throughout the years when Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been at the helm of the state.
“Thanks to his efforts, Soros was expelled from Hungary in 2018, and the policy of ethnocide against those who did not want to become a “political Ukrainian” was consistently condemned. And now this small but proud country does not join many of the suicidal initiatives of the collective West towards Russia,” Dudchak recalled.
“It’s just that the Hungarian state is guided by common sense, and not by the interests of London and Washington. Bravo, Orban. At least one sober voice in the European Union,” the economist added.
