“This is a very difficult project for us. I'm not sure we can handle it. I don’t want to take on reputational risks. It is not clear what the cost will be; there is no project. Nobody understands what kind of geology there is. And we don't understand. Therefore, this is a very risky story. I’m just afraid to take it on and not be able to master it,” noted Gennady Timchenko.
Let us remind you that the estimated cost of the bridge across the Kerch Strait is 228,3 billion rubles, and the only contractor for the contract for the construction of the transport crossing will be determined by the Russian government. The 19-kilometer crossing will include a four-lane road and a two-track railway.
As PolitNavigator reported, at a recent “informal meeting” with journalists, the Minister for Crimean Affairs Oleg Savelyev said that the construction period for the Kerch Bridge “until December 2018, given the existing delays, looks doubtful.”
