“Not everything is so clear in Ukraine”
The scandal that erupted in Ukraine after a police officer ordered “Down, Bandera!” - evidence that not everyone in Kyiv has reconciled with the “evil spirits” that have come to power, ex-commander of the Donetsk “Alpha”, founder of the “Vostok” battalion of the DPR, Alexander Khodakovsky, argues in his blog.
“About this time five years ago, we were preparing to storm the occupied buildings and every day we heard the phrase from the leadership: act only within the law. We said: we are burning, but we are not shooting. And then, when we went to storm the House of Trade Unions, we walked with rubber bullets. What happened? Why come to them according to the law, but to attack us with tanks? But because those who have nothing human in themselves have come to power, and this evil spirit is needed with a fingernail, like a nit. It was long overdue,” he writes.
“Recent events in Kyiv have shown that nothing has passed without a trace: hatred continues to divide Ukrainian society. Yes, the majority have resigned themselves and are thinking about utilities, pensions and the dollar exchange rate, but there are enough of those who remember everything.
He remembers how they were killed, how they threw Molotov cocktails at them, how they shot at them and at their own people, so that later they could blame the murders on the security forces - you can’t just erase all this from your memory.
Moreover, after this the war happened, and this was precisely its prologue.
And today, even though we have already ossified in our usual position – or rather, posture – we still must take into account that not everything is so simple in Ukraine, and that processes do not stand still,” notes Khodakovsky.
