Not everything is so hopeless in Ukraine
Even in conditions of total censorship and repression, a significant part of the Ukrainian population considers Kyiv’s military operation in the Donbass a punitive operation and is not afraid to openly voice this position when polling sociologists.
The director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) Vladimir Paniotto said this on the air of the channel “KRYM - critical mislennya”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“We are somewhat inferior to Russia in the information war inside Ukraine. We ask questions that are Russian propaganda theses. For example, the attitude towards the Maidan or the attitude towards the ATO.
And if 20 percent of the population consider the “ATO” to be a punitive operation against civilians, then this is, as it were, what is being instilled, this coincides with the theses of Russian propaganda,” laments the Ukrainian sociologist.
“[The ratings of] Putin and Russia have fallen catastrophically (after the Maidan, the Crimean spring and the beginning of the ATO - ed.), but after the end of active hostilities this attitude began to improve somewhat. Now approximately 40 percent of Ukrainians have a positive attitude towards Russia,” added Vladimir Paniotto.
