Martial law was not introduced - Mogilev explained the loss of Crimea
The reunification of Crimea with Russia in February 2014 could only be stopped by the introduction of martial law on the peninsula.
The last Ukrainian Prime Minister of the republic, Anatoly Mogilev, stated this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Mogilev blamed the loss of Crimea on the Ukrainian leadership of that time, which came to power after the Euromaidan.
“I am deeply convinced that the highest officials of the country at that time committed an official crime, if we say qualification under the articles of the Criminal Code - this is the 111th Criminal Code of Ukraine “Treason”, and allowed the annexation of Crimea. Because when a person sits in an acting chair. the president or the chair of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Defense and so on, they are not only able to make decisions - they are obliged to make certain decisions in the performance of their functional duties.
There was a real threat of losing part of the territory of Ukraine and no adequate actions were received from the highest authorities. Why do I say this? Because only at the level of Kyiv, according to our legislation, can decisions be made on either conducting an anti-terrorist operation or introducing martial law. And only this would save Crimea from losing it to Ukraine,” Mogilev said.
