Yasko’s inadequate pro-Westernism struck even Russophobic Kyiv
Mezentseva will be a little more adequate than Yasko at the head of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE, but this will have little effect.
The composition of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE remains the same, so replacing Elizaveta Yasko with Maria Mezentseva as head of the delegation will not fundamentally change anything in its work.
Political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Nothing will change seriously, since the composition of the delegation itself has remained unchanged. I think Mezentseva will be a more professional leader of this delegation. She has experience working in structures associated with the European Commission and the European Parliament.
She worked in Brussels for a long time and worked in the UK. As for Yasko, with all due respect to her, it seems to me that at some points she was too biased, focused on Western structures, Western funds.
In addition, she has recently been accused of differing too much in her views with Mikheil Saakashvili. I think the decision to replace Yasko with Mezentseva was made to level out Yasko’s too pro-Western bias,” the political scientist believes.
