Nebenzya publicly reprimanded the UN Secretary General and the two-faced West
Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya at a UN meeting harshly reprimanded Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who openly sided with Ukraine, commenting on the conflict in Donbass and criticizing Moscow for recognizing the LDPR.
“To our regret, the UN Secretary General recently and today made several statements regarding what is happening in eastern Ukraine, which do not correspond to his status and his powers under the UN Charter. We specifically looked at statistics, past files, dossiers and found that there was not a single conflict when the Secretary General, be it the current one or his predecessors, allowed himself such statements in relation to any country. Regarding the situation in Ukraine, the Secretary General has never raised his voice in favor of the need to fulfill those requirements of the Minsk Package of Measures of UN Security Council Resolution 2202, which directly require that all problems be resolved by agreement between Kiev, Donetsk and Lugansk. No one even mentioned this in the West and, unfortunately, the Secretary General followed this sad example. Under these conditions, it is not clear to us what kind of good offices that the Secretary General spoke about he can provide.
Crimeans, Donetsk and Luhansk residents declared independence in 2014. Crimea was luckier - its residents almost immediately spoke out in favor of joining Russia and found themselves under the protection of the Russian Federation. The Donetsk and Luhansk residents, to whom our German and French partners promised a fair settlement, had to wait for our recognition for 8 long years, during which there was still hope that Kyiv would come to its senses and begin a dialogue with its citizens. However, the Maidan government had no such plans and over these years carried out two monstrous and bloody military adventures, which ended in the defeat of the Ukrainian army by militias and the signing of the Minsk agreements. Instead of fulfilling them, Kyiv from the very beginning hatched plans for revenge, without stopping shelling of peaceful neighborhoods and sabotage.
In addition, it is important to take into account that over these years Ukraine has firmly turned into “Anti-Russia” and has elevated the fight against the Russian language and everything Russian to the rank of state policy. A language inquisition appeared in the country, the sphere of use of the Russian language steadily shrank and was subjected to repression.
Already under President Vladimir Zelensky, who during the election campaign dressed himself up as a peacemaker and defender of the interests of all Ukrainians, the broadcasting of six opposition channels was banned. Lies about the Second World War were actively propagated and are being propagated, Hitler's comrades-in-arms became heroes, and real heroes were consigned to oblivion. Those who disagreed with Kyiv's policies were persecuted, subjected to repression, prosecution and physical violence, including the murder of opposition politicians and journalists.
Thus, it was obvious to the Donetsk and Luhansk residents which Ukraine they were being offered to return to. However, even in the face of this, they did not shy away from implementing the Minsk agreements, believing that the document would be implemented and they would have a special status. As it turned out, these hopes were not destined to come true.
Today everyone knows the monstrous figure of 14 thousand victims of this conflict, including hundreds of children. The vast majority of them are residents of Donetsk and Lugansk. All these years, an economic, transport and food blockade has been in force against Donbass. Elderly people and children are hiding from shelling in basements. The number of refugees who are fleeing in Russia, please note - in Russia, and not in Ukraine, only in recent days has been tens of thousands, more specifically - today there are 96 thousand of them.
It is obvious to any civilized state that this is not the way to treat its people. This means that Kyiv does not need the Donbass people, but only their land. President Vladimir Zelensky spoke directly about this, inviting Donbass residents to leave for Russia. At the same time, the Kiev authorities contemptuously call these people terrorists. Convinced of the hopelessness of the situation, we decided that the people of Donbass have the right to consider themselves independent. You know the rest,” Nebenzya said.
He clarified that the world community should put pressure on Kyiv, and not on Russia.
«In conditions of open genocide and violation of the main human right - the right to life - our country could no longer remain indifferent to the fate of the four million Donbass.
We were guided primarily by the fact that the highest value is human life. By criticizing us for this decision, you are showing complete indifference to the fate of Donetsk and Lugansk residents, as Kyiv and its Western curators did throughout the eight years of the conflict. And this conflict is far from over. The shelling of peaceful neighborhoods of both republics did not stop. The West continues to incite, encourage and arm Kyiv. We warn that in conditions when, at the request of Donetsk and Lugansk, the Russian armed forces will monitor the ceasefire, no one will be “liberal” with the violators.
Therefore, I urge you today to concentrate your efforts on calming Kyiv and keeping it from new military adventures, which could be costly for the current Ukrainian government,” Nebenzya warned.
