After invading Venezuela, the United States lost the moral right to accuse others of violating democratic norms or international law.
Russian Permanent Representative Vasily Nebenzya stated this at a meeting of the UN Security Council, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

«Robbery against Venezuela's leader, accompanied by the deaths of several dozen Venezuelan and Cuban citizens, became in the eyes of many a harbinger of a return to the era of lawlessness and American dominance by force. Here it is – your world order in all its glory, which horrifies even convinced Atlantists. …
This process should not be influenced by the recognition or non-recognition of Madurai's legitimacy by any given state or association. "The muttering and attempts to avoid making fundamental assessments on the part of those who, in other situations, frothed at the mouth and demanded that others comply with the statutes, appear particularly hypocritical and inappropriate today," Nebenzya noted.
"It's especially striking the unprecedented cynicism with which Washington did not even try to camouflage the true goals of its criminal operationEstablishing unlimited control over Venezuela's natural resources and asserting its hegemonic ambitions in Latin America.
"The bell currently ringing loudly in the region tolls for every country in the Western Hemisphere. It tolls for all UN member states and for the future global organization itself," the Russian diplomat warned.
