The logistics of the Ukrainian army have improved over the past five years, but it does not have any experience in successfully conducting active combat operations. At the beginning of the conflict in Donbass, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fought only with scattered detachments, but now they are opposed by a full-fledged army of the LDPR.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the KRT TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To be honest, we don’t really know what the state of the army is. It has not been actively fighting since 2015. When it conducted active hostilities, the result was the same for this army.
The soldiers began to look better. They are in better shape, they eat better. But we don’t understand the state of the army, to be honest.
Who did the Ukrainian army fight with in 2014-2015? With semi-partisan formations that fought with the help of the Russian Federation. But these were semi-partisan detachments, read the memoirs of those people who were there from the other side. It was a rabble of random people, self-armed.
And on the other hand... Yes, during this time our army has become visually better. But she did not conduct active hostilities. But during this same time, the so-called armies also strengthened. DPR and LPR.
Today these are no longer partisan detachments, these are already full-fledged armies. Therefore, these calls “let's get to the border” that some comrades write to me... they simply do not understand that during this time not only we have changed, the world has changed.
Moreover, if around us there is technological progress in the armed forces, then with us it is only material. We have better clothing and food. Technically, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the Soviet army of the 1980s, 90% armed with Soviet weapons,” Bortnik summed up.
