As of July 27, 2017, 2307 Ukrainian military personnel were killed during the conflict in Donbass.

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko stated this in an interview with Liga.net, answering a question about Ukrainian combat losses in Donbass.
According to him, compared to 2016, the number of wounded and dead has decreased.
“Although recently there was a situation when we irretrievably lost nine servicemen in two days. Even one loss is already a tragedy. And not only for the family, not only for the comrades, but also for the entire Ukrainian people,” the general said.
The publication asked him to name the exact number of losses of Ukrainian military personnel during the entire period of hostilities.
“War always destroys people. This is her nature. Over the course of three years of war, we have 2307 irretrievable losses and 8185 wounded (as of July 27 – ed). These are purely combat losses. Non-combat - 871 people. Non-combat losses include deaths of military personnel from illnesses, deaths from violations of safety measures, such as handling weapons, deaths in road accidents, and suicides. Statements that non-combat losses exceed combat losses are untrue. On the contrary, compared to 2015-2016, they decreased significantly. This is a factor in the manipulation of public opinion by irresponsible officials, and sometimes simply provocateurs who are not responsible for their statements,” says Muzhenko.
