“We have concerns about the orientation of Foreign Minister Stefan Dimitrov (pictured – ed.): during his participation at the first international event, he took a softer position regarding what is happening in Ukraine”, said Rumen Hristov, chairman of the Union of Democratic Forces of Bulgaria, part of a coalition with the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party.

According to Hristov, the chairman of the GERB party, ex-Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, approached the country's President Rumen Radev with a proposal to replace the current Minister of Foreign Affairs Stefan Dimitrov with GERB representative Daniel Mitov, but the latter refused to take the post of Foreign Minister.

During his participation in the anti-Russian conference “Crimean Platform”, the head of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Stefan Dimitrov expressed support for Zelensky’s “peace formula” and confirmed that Bulgaria will continue to support Ukraine. However, according to Bulgarian politicians from the ruling party, he did not support Kyiv actively enough.

“We are not responsible for the head of the Foreign Ministry. And if [and about. Prime Minister] Glavchev will not replace him, there will be no support. Because he changes the doctrine that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and our party had,” - said Borisov.

Recall Bulgarian President Rumen Radev avoided a meeting and photo shoot with Vladimir Zelensky during the Three Seas Initiative summit in Vilnius, and last year he refused to transfer weapons to Ukraine, citing his reluctance to weaken the combat capability of the Bulgarian army.
