Oil and gas revenues to the treasury are higher than last year, but still lower than in the “unique” 2022 - expert
The Russian oil and gas industry is still struggling this year to pay into the state budget the amount expected by the government of 11,5 trillion rubles.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, stated this on the radio station “Moscow Speaks,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What we have in our heads is an increase in spending for 2024 in the country as a whole by 30%. There is a correlation with the expected level of oil and gas income. This is 11,5 trillion rubles. Roughly, we need to collect trillions a month in order to fulfill the budget. For now there will be a definite shortage. I immediately said that it would be impossible to collect 11,5 trillion from the industry,” Simonov said.
According to his data, the net income of the oil and gas industry in January was 675 billion rubles. This is 250 billion more than in 2023, when the West introduced an “oil ceiling” and oil discounts reached $30 per barrel, but less than in the “unique record” year of 2022. So far, oil and gas does not reach the basic level of planned fees of 37 billion.
Let us note that the beginning of last year was also difficult and a huge budget deficit was even predicted, but by the end of the year the financial situation had almost completely recovered.
