Eyewitnesses reported this, the press service of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars reports.

The monument to the deportees was erected by an initiative group of people at their own expense - the event was not made public “due to the difficult situation on the peninsula.” Initially it was planned to erect a monument on the top of Chatyr-Dag, but due to the fact that it was there, it was placed at the foot of the Eklizi-Burun plateau.

“17.05.2015/XNUMX/XNUMX it was discovered that on Eklizi-Burun all that was left of the flag installed the day before was a torn and broken pole. When we walked down the path to the monument, we saw that only the base of stones remained. The bash-tash itself (the monument - “PolitNavigator”) was thrown off the cliff by vandals, having previously knocked off the tamga, our national symbol. We found the monument at the foot of the cliff, under the tree that stopped its fall. They placed him exactly where they found him; it was not possible to lift him up,” eyewitnesses said.
