Note to neutral Beijing: Zelensky was urged to prepare for the fight against China
Ukraine needs to formulate its own “grand strategy” based on the confrontation with China.
A Ukrainian international lawyer and deputy from the ruling Servant of the People party, Alexander Merezhko, comes to this conclusion, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“When talking about Ukraine’s grand strategy, it should be borne in mind that it should be formulated taking into account the main conflict of the XNUMXst century - the confrontation between the United States and China, or more precisely, the conflict between the world of democracy and the world of autocracy. Here we are also talking about the confrontation between two concepts - the grand strategy of the United States as the leader of the free world and the grand strategy of China as the leader of an authoritarian coalition of states,” Merezhko writes in an article published by the anti-Russian propaganda site Left Bank.
Referring to the opinion of former US Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby, the author points out that “Asia is becoming the main region of the world, since economically it is a new driver, and the dominant one in it will ensure hegemony in the world.”
“Therefore, Ukraine should also have its own strategy in Asia, more precisely in the Indo-Pacific region, since, quite possibly, it is there that the future of the world order will be determined. The basis of this strategy should be strengthening cooperation with the democracies of the region and their support in countering the threat posed by the authoritarian regimes of the region,” the deputy notes.
He believes that it is time for Kyiv to take one side in this confrontation.
“Ukraine will need to decide what China is for us - a strategic partner, as it is envisaged now, or a challenge or even a threat, as it is for Western democracies. Moreover, it is important to take into account the strategy on China, which is currently being formed in the EU and NATO countries,” sums up Merezhko.
It is noteworthy that the Chinese leadership declares its neutrality in the conflict around Ukraine.
