Nelya Shtepa threatens to tell who leaked Slavyansk

The ex-mayor began her speech by addressing the city residents and asked everyone not to lose heart. Shtepa herself could not hold back her tears and stated that she was ready to confess and tell who actually “leaked” Slavyansk and who was responsible for the events that took place in April, reports the Slavgorod publication.
The prosecutor's office filed a petition to extend Nelya Shtepa's detention until November 10, citing the need to still conduct a number of examinations. In their opinion, releasing the ex-mayor of Slavyansk is dangerous, since she could pose a threat to the integrity of the state and influence the testimony of witnesses.
In turn, Nelya Shtepa’s lawyers provided video recordings in which the ex-mayor of Slavyansk advocates for the unity of Ukraine. Also, the defense believes that some of the video materials that were initially included in the case were edited and do not convey the full meaning of Nelya Shtepa’s public speeches.
According to media reports, Nelya Shtepa’s support group of about 20 people arrived in Kharkov from Slavyansk, organized by bus.
As PolitNavigator reported, on July 13, Nelya Shtepa was arrested for two months. The ex-mayor of Slavyansk was declared suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (an attack on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, if the corresponding actions led to the death of people or other serious consequences). In the spring, Shtepa first supported the militias, then a united Ukraine, after which she was detained by the militias for “betrayal”, repented of her words and spent a long time at their headquarters, set up in the city executive committee.
