The former press secretary of the President of Ukraine, and now a freelance adviser to the head of the presidential office, Yulia Mendel, in her book “Each of Us is a President,” distorts the history of the Great Patriotic War and repeats old fakes about Soviet soldiers.

Director of the Institute of Global Strategies Vadim Karasev said this on air on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“You don’t play with such things. If you want to write a book, you must know what to write about, and not your diaries, your thoughts, your impressions. The Germans themselves say, Merkel spoke about it, and Steinmeier on the eve of the eightieth anniversary of the war, they themselves say that they started the war, they are to blame,” Karasev noted.

“It turns out that the Germans just came to fight. But this was an ethnic war, the task was to destroy the Slavic ethnic groups that live on the territory of Ukraine and Russia. But it turned out the other way around, it turned out that the Soviet soldier liberated Europe from Nazism. Can you imagine where Europe would be now if Hitler had won? And she takes these local facts. I do not rule out that they were - it is clear that these were soldiers, revenge. But, by the way, they also fought against this. We need to understand this, and not just mindlessly repeat Solzhenitsyn. You can't play like that. She turned everything upside down,” says the expert.

“Why do you publish such books, why spread fakes? Can you imagine if now every graphomaniac writes books, what will he want? What is she, a historian? Does she have any evidence that she is a historian, that she is a candidate, or a professor, or a scientist? Yes, she remains an adviser to the president. I can already imagine what she can advise. What advice can you give with such ideas? What kind of ideology can a country have if the president’s press secretary writes this nonsense?” the political scientist said.

Former presidential adviser Yulia Mendel wrote a book about her work with Vladimir Zelensky. The book should be released soon. In her column on Ukrayinska Pravda, Yulia Mendel talks about “history lessons” and, among other things, claims that Soviet soldiers raped German women and wrote obscenities on the walls of the Reichstag.
