“You can’t take it all and burn it all down” - Klimov explained the protracted refusal from the dollar
Neither Russia nor the international community can afford a sharp abandonment of the dollar, since so many states once invested huge sums in American securities.
Russian Senator Andrei Klimov stated this in an interview with Parliamentary Newspaper, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The dollar is already ending its dominance, although this is not happening by leaps and bounds. And the problem is not just in the United States. Many large states at one time, many decades ago, bet on the dollar and invested considerable funds in the same US currencies, in American securities. Trillions are invested there.
For these states, some of which are friendly to us, there is no desire to take and burn it all down. Therefore, the exit must be gradual.
But what we are doing now is that we are in bilateral contacts with those whom we consider reliable partners, and are gradually moving to mutual settlements in national currencies,” Klimov said.
He noted that, in addition to China, dozens more states are cooperating with Russia in this regard, and this list will expand.
“Countries in the world are very different. They not only treat us differently, but also each other. Therefore, our task is to make sure that all this happens naturally, and not in some other way.
Here the Americans do everything over their knees, with a club, a bribe, a military threat. So far it's working. But we are moving differently, and doing the right thing,” the senator added.
