The governor of the Odessa region and fugitive Georgian ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili assured that he does not intend to return to Tbilisi, where he is accused of serious state crimes.

He said this in an interview with the BBC.
“I have absolutely no intention of doing this (returning to Tbilisi - PolitNavigator), and primarily because, according to the OSCE, for example, the rights of those under investigation are violated in Georgia. There are many former members of my administration in prison there for a year and a half now, although according to the law, the term of imprisonment for those under investigation cannot exceed nine months,” Saakashvili noted.
Saakashvili also noted that he is not going to become a “victim of the whims” of the largest private shareholder of the Russian Gazprom, ex-Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“This is a Russian oligarch who was sent to Georgia with a mandate to criminally prosecute me and my team,” Saakashvili is sure.
