This is evidenced by survey data from Emnid and N24 TV channel, reports DW.
It is reported that given the refusal of German President Joachim Gauck to stand for a second term, 41% of Germans see Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in this post. Another 30% supported the candidacy of Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, 24% supported the Prime Minister of Badem-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann.
It should be noted that on February 12, 2017, the German Federal Assembly will hold elections for a new president.
Let us recall that Steinmeier earlier stated the need to look for ways to reduce tension in Donbass.
