Touching upon the topic of voting at polling stations opened in Germany for the Russian presidential election, the author of the publication comes to the conclusion that if anyone in Germany stands for Putin and the state he has built, then “it is not the Russians, but the Germans themselves.”

“The results of the latest polls are surprising. 91% of Germans are convinced that no threat comes from Russia. Neither the hacker attacks on the Bundestag, the government and the CDU headquarters, nor even the recent nerve gas poisoning in the UK, in which, along with the actual target of the attack, a former Russian secret service officer, several people were more or less injured, can shake the Germans’ faith in this hundreds of innocent people.

Even worse, 63% reject political action against Russia out of solidarity with the UK. They require “substantial evidence.” Experience shows that such evidence always arrives, but only after some time has passed. And when they arise, they no longer interest anyone,” the publication writes.

The journalist is no less surprised by the fact that the Germans consider the American president much more dangerous for Germany than the Russian one.

“According to the political barometer of the ZDF television channel, they believe that the admittedly unpredictable, but still democratically elected and very limited in his rights by the rule of law, the unsympathetic Donald Trump is much more dangerous (82%) than Putin (53%), who unleashes one war after another and openly threatens the West with modern nuclear miracle weapons,” the newspaper is indignant.

At the same time, it is clarified that the Germans associate Russia with Putin.

“Five of the seven parties represented in the Bundestag and their supporters among voters are in favor of rapprochement with their “neighbor in the East.” Agree with this opinion is about 58% throughout Germany, and even almost 72% in the east. And to immediately avoid any doubts: when hearing the word “Russia,” the majority of respondents, namely 45%, think about Putin and only 21% think about culture,” notes the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

The author claims that shortly after the reunification of Germany, at the checkout of one of the stores in Germany, he allegedly witnessed a conversation between an elderly German couple and a young woman who was talking to her child in Russian.

“The elderly woman pointed at the young woman’s shopping cart and said into space: “Since when do Russians use toilet paper?” The young mother turned and answered with her friendliest smile, “Since you stopped licking our ass.” It was difficult to imagine then—more difficult than the appearance of the “Chancellor”—how wrong this young woman was in her assessment,” the article summarizes.

It is noteworthy that Russian journalist Nikolai Klimenyuk, who has been living in Berlin since 2014, has made such unflattering and even offensive assessments of German society.

As PolitNavigator reported, German Protestants sympathize with Putin and Russia, despising the USA and Ukraine.
