The Germans are lulling the huntars: We will complete the construction of Nord Stream, and we will not cut up your gas transportation system
Germany once again appeased Ukraine with promises and assurances that after the commissioning of the second stage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the Ukrainian gas transmission system will not be cut into scrap metal. This was stated by his German colleague Frank-Walter Steinmeier following his meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, even if Nord Stream 2 continues to be built, the European Union is still thinking about how to maintain gas transit through the Ukrainian gas transportation system.
“You shouldn't blame us. Even if we are talking about Nord Stream 2, we are also talking about the future and security of Ukraine. I hope that Ukraine is watching that there are efforts in Germany to ensure the transit of natural gas through Ukraine. For this purpose negotiations take place. They take place not only between Germany and Ukraine, but also with the European Union. I hope that these negotiations will bring results in the near future, and Ukraine’s concerns that it will cease to be a transit country in the future, I think these are unfounded worries,” Steinmeier said.
