German intelligence knew that Babchenko was alive
The SBU hoped that German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who was in Kyiv on the day the murder of fugitive Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko was staged, would comment on the incident in an anti-Russian manner.
German writer Vladimir Sergienko stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“Steinmeier was also there. They thought they were making a fake, and Steinmeier would tell how sad it is when journalists are killed. It’s good that he said it calmly, but he could have said it brightly, he could have believed that Russia was behind this, cut from the shoulder. According to gossip, intelligence warned him: be careful. They set everyone up,” Sergienko said.
He believes that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin suffered most from the provocation of the SBU.
“There is a certain team in the SBU that takes the templates of American justice, which has extensive experience in solving crimes of provocation. He reproduces it as best he can, but he can’t do it at all, because he has no talent. So they set up Klimkin. No one will take him into account now,” the writer believes.
