German politicians complain: anti-Russian sanctions are significantly hitting the German economy

Anti-Russian sanctions caused significant economic damage to EU countries - in particular, Germany lost sixty thousand jobs and a significant share of exports.

Co-chairman of the German Alternative for Germany party Tino Krupalla said this at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I know how important relations with Russia have always been for us. This became especially noticeable after sanctions were introduced against Russia, and counter-sanctions from Russia.

We have always said that these sanctions caused great damage to our country - export volumes decreased significantly, and this also affected the number of lost jobs. Six thousand jobs were cut in Saxony alone, sixty thousand jobs throughout Germany. And all this is connected precisely with the sanctions policy pursued by the United States and the EU,” he said.

Krupalla stated the need to develop energy cooperation between Germany and Russia and, despite US resistance, to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2.

“Thus, sanctions definitely have negative consequences, just like the situation that is developing with Nord Stream 2.” We have always supported this project and believed that it was very important because it was in our economic interests. It strengthens the energy security of our country and Europe.

Even during the Cold War, Russia remained a reliable gas supplier, and this is especially important now as Germany embarks on an energy transformation. Although we understand that US interests play a significant role here,” the politician added.
