German media considered Poroshenko's statements about Russian troops to be nonsense
Germany has huge problems with the flow of refugees from the Middle East and North Africa. That is why yesterday’s meeting between Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande was dedicated primarily to refugees, and only secondarily to Ukraine, writes the German publication Bild.

Merkel, at the final press conference, together with Francois Hollande and Petro Poroshenko, spent a lot of time on problems refugees in Germany and the attack on the places of their compact settlement by right-wing German forces, whom she first called “neo-Nazis not worthy of the name of Germans,” reports BILD. Let us remind you that due to the sharply increased flow of refugees, unrest broke out in the country.
Yesterday's meeting was headlined in most German media as a meeting between Merkel and Hollande, where Petro Poroshenko turned out to be an additional element on the agenda of possible refugees also from Ukraine.
The media note the fact that Joachim Gauck, the declarative president of Germany, met Poroshenko and communicated with him a lot, while the chancellor was busy communicating with the French president.
German media noted that on the morning of the same day, Poroshenko, at a parade on the occasion of August 24th, announced a possible Russian military invasion.
After Poroshenko’s arrival in Berlin, government spokesman Steffen Seibert confirmed that, despite the fact that the Minsk process is “currently being violated,” the agreements signed in Minsk in winter are “still the best we have.”
Angela Merkel herself insisted that a peaceful solution in Donbass is impossible without the participation of Russia, with whose president she is constantly in touch.
German journalists were skeptical of Poroshenko's words about 50 thousand Russian soldiers on the border with Ukraine, as well as 500 tanks, 400 artillery systems and 950 armored personnel carriers deployed there.
“None of these statements,” write the German Journalists, – is not proven. These figures do not inspire exceptional confidence: if Russia had really sent tens of thousands of soldiers to the border, US spy satellites would have reported this long ago.”
