“Syringes, drugs and alcohol are found where Ukrainians spent the night.” - writes the newspaper Mopo.

Hamburg journalists looked into the garbage bags of the hotel where Ukrainian football players stayed during their participation in the Euro 2016 championship. There they found bottles of vodka, ampoules of diphenhydramine, used syringes and droppers, strong painkillers that were not yet on the list of prohibited drugs.

The garbage of the Icelanders and Swiss was “clean” of alcohol and drugs, but journalists did not get to the contents of the garbage bins of the Germans and Italians.

The underside of the “successes” of Ukrainian football players gave the publication reason to conclude that the practice of using alcohol and tranquilizers is widespread in professional sports.
