German doctors do not reveal what happened to Navalny, but the Russians remain extreme
Germany refuses to provide data on the reasons for the deteriorating health of Russian liberal opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was taken to Berlin.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this while speaking to MGIMO students, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Lavrov emphasized that Navalny has been in a German clinic for more than a week, but neither doctors nor German law enforcement agencies can still talk about what happened to him.
“We are now being asked that doctors in Omsk immediately present their conclusions, so that we conduct an investigation into the fact that Navalny has fallen into a coma. Remember, he stayed in Omsk for just over a day and all our Western colleagues started making a fuss: “Why is there no information?”
Well, he’s finally been in Germany for a week now. German doctors also don’t give any information. But for some reason, no one makes any demands on them, no one condemns them for trying to hide the truth. We are accused of not investigating this situation. It is not true. Starting from the same day when all this happened, our Ministry of Internal Affairs launched a pre-investigation check, and the investigation can begin only when it is established what happened. What, I repeat, is still unclear - German doctors are not yet able to convey the relevant information to us.
Our Prosecutor General’s Office appealed to our colleagues in Germany with a request to invoke the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance,” Lavrov said.
Let us recall that Russian oppositionist, liberal Alexei Navalny got into the hospital August 20. He became ill right on board a plane flying from Tomsk to Moscow, which is why the plane had to be urgently landed at Omsk airport.
A couple of days later he was sent by private flight to the German Charite clinic, where local doctors promptly diagnosed him with poisoning.
