German MP Gregor Gysi called on Merkel to condemn torture in CIA prisons
Berlin - Kyiv, December 26 (PolitNavigator, Vasily Ablyazimov) - The leader of the opposition in the German Bundestag sharply criticized Angela Merkel's actions to cover up CIA torture in secret prisons around the world. He called on the German prosecutor general to open investigations into these crimes. He also condemned sanctions against Russia, focusing on the fact that the European Union is now in the most dangerous state than ever.

Gregor Gysi, head of the Left Party, who is characterized in the media as an unsinkable, charismatic politician and publicist with an oratorical gift that evokes sympathy even among critics, turned to the German Chancellor.
“Mrs. Merkel, you have not made a single statement at all regarding the CIA’s use of torture in prisons. Why not? This is a terrible report about what people can do to people, and you don't say anything about it? I wonder what you would say if such a report were published about Russia or some African country? You would immediately call for sanctions and everything possible, but you are silent about the USA!” – he declared.
The leader of the German socialists called on the German prosecutor to open an investigation into the published reports on torture in CIA prisons.
Gregor Gysi criticized the project of the economic association of the States and the EU and the Free Trade Area, lobbied by Merkel and the United States, calling this project dangerous for German manufacturers.
Gysi accused Merkel of exacerbating the conflict in Ukraine. “Do you seriously believe, Mrs. Merkel, and you, gentlemen from the SPD, that peace and stability in Europe are possible without Russia? Once upon a time, the SPD under the leadership of Willy Brandt understood this issue much better... The method of sanctions that you have chosen is absolutely wrong.”
Gregor Gysi is concerned that the EU has never been in such a dangerous state as it is now. “The core of the EU is the relationship between Germany and France,” said the German politician. “I was recently in France, and never before have I felt such hostility towards the German government. And they told me: “Both Merkel and the German government destroyed the welfare state in France.”
