The German expert does not rule out progress in Ukraine with the arrival of Trump
In the German edition of Huffingtonpost, expert of the Russian-German forum Alexander Rahr expresses confidence that Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election will contribute to the resolution of the military conflict in South-East Ukraine. “His rapprochement with Russia will incline Ukraine to concessions in the Minsk peace process. And the main argument will be the cessation of US military assistance" - считает expert.

“Several of Trump’s remarks during his election campaign lead to these conclusions. He seems ready to recognize the legitimacy of the Crimean referendum and is ready to admit that the West, with its policies over the past twenty-five years, has driven Russia into a geopolitical dead end,” the expert believes.
“In addition, Trump is hinting at the possibility of concluding a deal between NATO and Russia, which would put an end not only to the current conflict in Ukraine, but also to tensions in the Baltic states and the Caucasus,” Alexander Rahr also writes.
