German general: “Aid to Ukraine is emptying Bundeswehr warehouses”
Aid to Ukraine depletes the German army's warehouses, which take time to replenish.
The head of the situation center for Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, General Christian Freuding, stated this on the DW TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In particular, according to Freuding, we are talking about artillery shells that Germany sends to Ukraine.
“If we take, for example, artillery ammunition, the need for which is very, very urgent, then our Minister of Defense last week at the contact group on the defense of Ukraine said that we must cover this most important and pressing need.
Firstly, we will provide some as quickly as possible, and this is only possible from the Bundeswehr’s reserves. That’s why we said that 10 thousand artillery ammunition will arrive immediately from Bundeswehr warehouses and will be delivered to Ukraine in the next few days,” the general said.
“I wouldn’t say “weaken,” but, of course, what we provide to Ukraine is lacking in our own armed forces, and this shortfall needs to be replenished. First of all, it must be purchased again as quickly as possible.
This is also our agreement with the German government that what was provided to Ukraine will be immediately purchased again. Of course, certain time gaps of varying sizes and durations arise,” Freuding said.
