Thus, a black dancer of the Berlin State Ballet, Chloe Lopez Gomez, whose contract was not renewed, accused the management of racism because she had to wear white makeup to perform the role of a swan in the famous ballet by Tchaikovsky.

At the same time, the production of Swan Lake, which has been on the stage of the Berlin Ballet since 1997, initially assumed that all ballerinas dancing white swans, without exception, should wear makeup, enhancing the whiteness of their skin for the sake of stage effect. True, Gomez, who became the first black dancer in the troupe, said that such a requirement against her looks like a manifestation of racism.

As a result, the Berlin State Ballet published a letter of repentance with a promise to “reconsider the repertoire, as well as outdated and discriminatory performance methods.”

“We recognize that the European ballet genre has, throughout its history, marginalized people of color,” the ballet says on its website.

In turn, the newspaper asks the question: what to do now with “Swan Lake”, built on the antithesis of black and white images that did not have any racial connotations in the time of Tchaikovsky (and even now).

The publication also indicates that in Europe there have been discussions for several years now that it is time to ban white actors from playing black characters.

“By the way, in Germany, a similar ban has already affected the culture of street celebrations, for which from time immemorial there have been no taboos. As Bild reported, in the city of Fulda (Hesse), the local carnival committee ordered that mummers in black costumes should not be allowed to participate in the Maslenitsa processions. Participants in the procession are no longer allowed to paint themselves black, wrap themselves in leopard skins, or decorate themselves with bone beads.

And in kindergartens in Hamburg and Erfurt, costume parties were canceled so that children would not play “Redskin leaders” with traditional masks and feathers,” writes RG.

As PolitNavigator reported, due to pseudo-political correctness, the Dutch were deprived of their traditional Christmas character.
