The inevitable collapse of the anti-Poroshenko consensus will bury Zelensky
The newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and his team will not have many levers of influence, and the formation of a parliamentary coalition will be a matter of life and death.
However, it is far from clear that the new president will be able to survive politically.
Political scientist Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The conglomeration that formed around Zelensky and whose goal was to remove Poroshenko from the presidency will begin with the need for civil strife. Who will now have a controlling stake and a decisive influence on the decision-making process that will be formalized by the president? The answer to this is far from obvious.
There is the Avakov factor. If Poroshenko could not so easily remove him at the peak of his power and fame, then I don’t think that Zelensky at the beginning of his career is ready to simply ignore the Avakov factor. We'll have to reckon with it.
That he will fight with the oligarchs... you can’t fight with everyone together, you have to be friends with someone. He will need to seek compromises. For him, winning parliamentary elections and forming a coalition is a matter of life and death,” he said.
Thank you!
