Today in Nikolaev, after the traditional Sunday service, a memorial service was held in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Towards evening, a group of activists and concerned citizens went to the Yacht Club embankment to launch a memorial wreath.
And in the evening, on the pedestal of the Eternal Flame, the word “ODESSA” was laid out from burning candle lamps.
In addition, on the eve of today's events, a call was circulated on social networks to light memorial candles in your windows on this day - in memory of the victims of the Odessa tragedy.
During the confrontations that broke out in Odessa exactly six months ago, according to official data, 49 participants in the protests on the Kulikovo Field were killed. Other sources give more terrifying figures - up to several hundred.
What happened was immediately dubbed the “Odessa Khatyn” - by analogy with the Belarusian village of Khatyn, destroyed in 1943 by one of the punitive battalions.
