According to his information, the commander of the 59th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel Vladimir Shvedyuk, gave instructions to his subordinates to conduct engineering reconnaissance of the area and draw up maps of minefields.

“Due to the brigade being understaffed with engineering units, military personnel who did not have the appropriate training were brought in to perform this task. This led to the blowing up of a group of military personnel from the 59th brigade during engineering reconnaissance. As a result of the explosion, one serviceman was killed,” said Ivan Filiponenko.
