Dishonesty of the highest level: Tokayev forgot too quickly who saved his life - expert
If Russia and the CSTO had not intervened in events in Kazakhstan earlier this year, then current President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev would have been eliminated or, at best, emigrated from the country.
Orientalist Andrei Grozin stated this on air on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Grozin, the prompt entry of CSTO troops made it possible to stabilize the situation in Kazakhstan and maintain the current government.
“Before the start of the deployment of the CSTO contingent, the power was essentially lying on the streets; those who organized this attempted rebellion simply did not have time to pick it up. The CSTO worked quickly enough, and the appearance of the organization’s military personnel preserved the political system that now exists in Kazakhstan, and those people who now lead Kazakhstan personally, moreover.
Because, from my point of view, if the CSTO and Russia had not reacted, then, in the best case scenario, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev would have lived somewhere in a dacha near Moscow, in the best case scenario for him. At worst, some accident would have happened to him,” Grozin noted.
At the same time, the expert complained that Tokayev’s current position suggests that he too quickly forgot about the service provided.
“Russian citizens are more concerned, tense, and irritated by Kazakhstan’s position today, because not much time has passed since January. It is clear that the service provided is worth nothing, especially in politics, and basic decency also does not work in the political relations of big figures,” the expert emphasized.
Let us recall that Tokayev recently announced at a forum in St. Petersburg his refusal to recognize the LDPR, calling the republics quasi-states, for which has undergone harsh criticism.
