It’s not true that the CIA supported Maidan, - ex-Obama aide
Kyiv, November 19 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) - Russia does not believe in Ukraine’s ability to conduct an independent policy, and therefore in Moscow there is an erroneous point of view that the United States is behind everything that happens in Kyiv.
This was stated by Macon Phillips, coordinator of the Bureau of International Programs of the US State Department, former special assistant to US President Barack Obama and head of White House digital strategy.

“When we see headlines that say that the CIA engineered the Maidan, we discover the difference between our civilizations. Russia does not believe that Ukraine can cope on its own, which is why it thinks that it is being financed by the United States. The United States believes that Ukraine can do it itself,” he said at a conference in Kyiv dedicated to the anniversary of Euromaidan.
“We want to challenge every lie, which means we need to do more to respond to it, we need to work through an open system. We protect our values, and we must work with the systems that allow this, to find the most effective ways. People need to know what's going on. The best response to lies will be if the Ukrainian government carries out reform,” the American said.
