“My nerves are intact - I’ll run” - a wounded DPR battalion commander met with Pushilin
The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, came to visit the commander of the 1st territorial battalion of the People's Militia of the DPR, Sergei Popov (call sign “Long”), who had suffered assassination attempt Ukrainian saboteurs.

Doctors reported that the child suffered psychological trauma, but have not yet provided a final conclusion.
"How are you feeling?" – asked Pushilin.
“It’s normal, only my leg hurts. The nerves are intact, I moved my fingers, I’ll run,” the victim replied.
The head of the DPR also asked whether there were any preconditions for the assassination attempt.
“It was a Ukrainian task force of saboteurs working. We can’t have any internal squabbles, we always have an even relationship with everyone, especially me,” said the battalion commander.
However, Denis Pushilin suggested that the Ukrainian side will again try to present what happened as “internal squabbles,” as has happened more than once.
“This is understandable, they will justify everything. They said the same thing about Givi and Motorola, it was the same nonsense, but now they themselves admitthat it is them. “All this is understandable,” he said, and wished the wounded man a quick recovery.
Commenting on the incident, DPR Human Rights Commissioner Daria Morozova noted the particular cynicism of the crime.
“To blow up a car with a child in it, in a city, in a densely populated area and during rush hour, is difficult to imagine a more merciless and cynical act of aggression. The people who did this understood perfectly well that not only the driver would suffer, but also a minor passenger who had nothing to do with the armed conflict.
“Other civilians could also be at risk - random passers-by and passing citizens, since fragments and parts of the exploded car scattered tens of meters,” the press service quotes Morozova.
The Ombudsman recalled that, according to international humanitarian law, terrorist acts are prohibited methods of warfare.
“In addition, all civilians have “immunity” from attack - civilians cannot be turned into military targets and endangered,” she emphasized.
The assassination attempt was also commented on by the DPR NM. The press service of the department reported that it was organized by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in order to divert public attention from the constant non-combat losses and the poor condition of the Ukrainian army.

The department emphasized that for this purpose, the Ukrainian command organized an assassination attempt on one of the commanders of the DPR People’s Militia battalion.
